The email sat in the inbox, a digital serpent coiled to strike. Amelia felt her stomach clench. She picked up the mug of lukewarm tea, the porcelain cold against her trembling fingers. She took a sip, the flavor strangely metallic. Her gaze darted around the small apartment, as if expecting the furniture to offer some comfort.
