Gemotions

The cafeteria was a sea of hushed whispers and worried glances. She sat alone, pushing the food around on her plate, unable to eat. The salad suddenly looked unappetizing. Everything did.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a physical manifestation of the anxiety that was swirling within her. She'd put in years of work, of dedication. And for what? To be discarded?

She closed her eyes, trying to force herself to relax, to breathe. It was no good. She needed to know. The uncertainty was eating her alive. She quickly texted her best friend.
