Gemotions

I listened, absorbing the words that the CEO uttered. My hands were clammy. It was hard to breathe. The company, our company, was being sold. I felt a sudden, sharp pain in my gut.

I wanted to say something, to ask a question, to protest. But the words wouldn't come. My throat constricted, and I just sat there, frozen. I felt a cold wave of fear washing over me.

I gripped the edge of the table, my knuckles white. The room seemed to spin, the faces around me blurring. The realization settled in: everything was about to change.
