Gemotions

The elevator doors opened, and David stepped out, his legs feeling unsteady. The polished marble floor seemed to tilt beneath his feet. He avoided eye contact, his gaze fixed on the floor as he walked towards his desk. The vibrant colors of his cubicle, usually a source of comfort, now seemed garish and overwhelming.

He passed by Sarah's workstation, catching a glimpse of her smiling face through the glass partition. She was animatedly chatting with another colleague. He felt a sharp pang of envy, immediately followed by a wave of self-loathing. He had always prided himself on his professionalism, but today, he felt exposed, vulnerable.

He slammed his computer on, the sound echoing unnaturally loud in the otherwise quiet office.
