Gemotions

The first thing I did was check the locks. They were secure, of course. Everything was always secure. I don’t understand. My hands were shaking so bad the key almost slipped out. I managed to get it in, and the click echoed in the silence.

I sat down on the edge of the bed. I felt this strange buzzing in my ears. I kept reading the paper. *Eviction*. *Thirty days*. Each word was like a physical blow. The walls seemed to be closing in, the air thick and heavy.

I got up and paced the small square of space. I needed a plan. I needed to do *something*.
