He found the statement tucked away with the old photographs. The photos felt heavier now, each smiling face a betrayal. He felt a peculiar prickling sensation, a heightened sensitivity to every sound, every movement. He ran a hand through his hair.

He found himself wandering through the house, touching objects, the coffee table, the ceramic vase. He felt detached, as if he were an observer watching a movie of his own life. Each touch just accentuated the isolation.
