Mr. Henderson paced the length of his cramped apartment, the worn rug doing little to soften his footsteps. His jaw was tight, his hands constantly finding their way to the knot in his tie. The package, heavy and square, had been delivered while he was out buying groceries.

He’d almost missed the doorbell. He’d been trying to focus on the shopping list, but the afternoon felt…off. He ran a hand through his thinning hair, a gesture that did nothing to calm the persistent unease that coiled in his stomach. He wasn't sure what to expect.

He glanced at the unopened package. It bore a single, elegant word on the label: "Remember." It was from Sarah Jenkins, a student he had struggled to connect with. They hadn’t spoken since she dropped out of his art class. He paused before opening the package. Inside was a small, crudely sculpted figure, a whimsical creature that made his breath catch.
