Gemotions

Eliza stared at the bright pink wrapping paper with a sense of dread. The vibrant colours seemed to mock her. A gift, left on her doorstep, no card, no return address. Just a bright pink bow. It had to be from Jason.

She hadn't spoken to him since…well, since it all fell apart. Her pulse was a frantic rhythm against her eardrums. She bit the inside of her cheek, a nervous habit she hadn't realized she still had.

She tore at the paper, her movements jerky and uncontrolled. Inside, was a single, perfect rose. Blood red. She dropped it, as if it was on fire.
