Gemotions

The squeal of the brakes, the slam of the door, and then… silence. He ran out, but it was too late. He stood in the driveway, the echo of the truck’s engine fading in the distance. He felt the sting of tears in his eyes.

He thought of all the things he had planned, the places he wanted to go. The open road, the freedom. All dashed. He felt a deep sense of disappointment.

He went inside and dropped heavily into a chair, the loss a weight on his soul. He closed his eyes, and thought of his old car. He opened them again, and stared out at the empty driveway.
