The sunset cast long shadows across the park, painting the scene in hues of orange and purple. Liam sat on the park bench, watching the last of the joggers leave. It was here, in this very spot, that he and Ben had had their falling out, years ago.

He remembered the heated argument, the biting words that sliced through the air. He remembered feeling utterly betrayed by Ben's actions. But Ben, whenever the topic surfaced, claimed it was Liam who'd been at fault. He insisted that he was simply trying to help, that Liam had misunderstood everything. The disagreement hung between them like a ghost.

Liam rubbed his temples. The breeze rustled the leaves, a sound that seemed to amplify the silence between them. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, and he felt a profound sense of isolation.
