The silence in the office felt deafening. Kevin leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. A wave of fatigue washed over him. He felt drained, as if he had been running a marathon, even though he had just been sitting.

He glanced at the empty desk beside him, belonging to a colleague who had already left. The clean lines of the desktop made him uncomfortable. Everything felt different. He had been so used to the chaos.

He thought of the things he had learned here. The battles he had fought. The relationships he had built. He let out a long, slow breath. The transition felt unsettling.
