He found himself staring at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. The lines around his eyes seemed deeper, his hair thinner. He was getting older, he realized, and the world seemed to be moving on without him.

The knowledge about Ben's salary, the disparity, had stirred something within him. It was a catalyst. He'd lost track of time. He was stuck.

He splashed cold water on his face, trying to clear his head. The water dripped down his chin. He had to decide what to do.
