Gemotions

The scent of freshly cut grass and decaying leaves filled the air as Amelia wandered through the yard sale. She was looking for a replacement for a broken birdhouse. She wasn’t looking for anything else.

Then she saw it, tucked away in a corner, its once-bright fur now faded and worn. She recognized it instantly. He was a small bear, the bear she had loved as a child.

She reached for it, her fingers brushing against the soft fur. A warmth spread through her chest. It was a warmth she hadn't anticipated. She felt a lightness, a feeling that had been missing for a while. She had to have him. She took the bear home and held it.
