Gemotions

The attic was a forgotten world. The air was thick with the scent of dust and decay. Mark, surveying the scene, felt a sense of displacement. The house was his, and yet, it was filled with the ghosts of others.

He discovered a trunk, heavy and locked. He pried it open and inside found a collection of old photographs. They depicted a family, laughing, celebrating. He saw glimpses of a life he did not know.

He felt an unfamiliar ache in his chest. He felt like he knew the faces in the photos. He wondered about their story, their joys, their sorrows. He would never know them, and yet, he felt as if he had lost something.
