The card was tucked inside a package of bills. She barely registered it at first, her attention consumed by the mountain of paperwork. But something about the unassuming envelope caught her eye.

She sat at her kitchen table, a half-eaten bowl of cereal in front of her. She’d always been a solitary person, a trait that had been amplified by her current circumstances.
