The air in the concert hall vibrated with the pre-show excitement, but I felt nothing. He’d been so attentive, so full of promises. The text message had shattered that illusion. Another name, another date, another woman.

My stomach churned. I’d bought this ticket for us, eager to share this experience. Now, I felt trapped, surrounded by happy couples, each one a reminder of my own foolishness. I gripped my seat, my knuckles white.

The music began, but I couldn't hear it. My ears were filled with the echo of his lies, the phantom touch of his hand. I wanted to scream, to run out, to disappear. But I remained still, numb, a statue carved from disappointment. I felt the hot tears stream down my face.
