The bookstore, with its dimly lit aisles and towering shelves, always soothed Elara's anxieties. Tonight, the peace was a thin veneer. She'd been feeling adrift, unsure of her purpose since retiring. She chose a well-worn copy of *Pride and Prejudice*, hoping for some comfort.

A small, intricately folded origami crane, tucked between the pages, tumbled out. Attached to the crane was a tiny slip of paper. “Fly free, little one. Find your own horizon." The words struck a chord, and a sense of wistfulness settled in her.

She carefully unfolded the paper crane, the delicate folds a testament to someone’s patient hands. She felt a sting behind her eyes, the familiar pressure building. The horizon...it seemed a lifetime away.
