Ricardo stared at the invitation, the embossed lettering blurring before his eyes. The room swam, a haze of memories. The school gymnasium, the basketball games, the girl he never kissed.

He felt the prickle of sweat on his forehead. It had been a lifetime ago, a different world. He'd come so far, built a life, a career. Yet, the past still held a powerful pull.

He took a deep breath, the air thick with the smell of old paper and the ghosts of his youth. He wanted to go back. Yet he couldn't.
