Gemotions

The old attic was filled with dust and shadows. Arthur shuffled through the boxes, his breath catching in his throat. He pulled out a box containing his designs for a voice-activated home security system. He stared at the drawings, his heart heavy. His invention was a good one, but it was someone else's now.

He ran a hand across his aged face. He had poured his heart and soul into this, and for what? The silence of the attic pressed in on him. He felt the tears well up in his eyes, a final, helpless release. He leaned against the box, sinking to the floor.
