Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in the otherwise quiet house. He stood at the window, watching the dog, a golden blur, leap through his yard. The monotony of the day was getting to him, the way it always did.

He had promised himself that today would be different, that he would start that new project, that he would reconnect with an old friend. He hadn't done any of it. He felt the familiar weight of disappointment settle in his chest.
