He stared at the blank canvas in front of him, the white expanse mirroring the emptiness within. He'd been working on a painting inspired by one of his favorite author's novels. He had been so proud of it, so eager to share his creation. Now, he didn't know if he could finish it.

The news had hit him like a physical blow. The author, who had inspired him to pick up a brush, to see the world in new and interesting ways, was a thief. He felt nauseous. He tried to focus on his brush strokes, but his hand trembled.

He backed away from the canvas, his shoulders slumped. The colors of his palette, once vibrant with promise, now seemed dull and lifeless.
