Gemotions

The music pulsed, loud and insistent, but she felt deafened. The party buzzed with energy, but she was trapped in a soundless vacuum. She had approached him, tentatively, but he had looked at her with polite confusion, his eyes utterly blank.

She took a long swig of her drink, the burning sensation doing little to assuage the growing ache in her chest. The bright lights blurred, the noise amplified the hollowness within her.

She turned and left, pushing through the crowd. The exit door slammed behind her, the sound a final, definitive closure. The night air was a sharp contrast. She walked away, alone.
