The champagne flute trembled in Sarah's hand. The gold of the liquid mirrored the light in her father's eyes. It was a beautiful evening, but a melancholy weight sat in her chest. Everything felt heightened.

She leaned toward the microphone. The words felt foreign leaving her lips. "I remember a time when Dad was everything to me." The statement was hollow.
