Gemotions

The setting sun cast long shadows across the room, illuminating the eviction notice on the desk. Thomas leaned back in his chair, the wheels squeaking in protest. He stared at the ceiling, trying to collect himself.

He thought of the many mornings he’d spent in this very chair, lost in thought. He’d planned, he’d dreamed, he’d hoped. Now, it all felt… different. The walls of his apartment seemed to close in around him, heavy with the weight of his troubles.

He picked up a pen and began to doodle on a notepad, mindless patterns filling the page. The pen moved across the paper, a futile attempt to make sense of things. The shadows lengthened, mirroring the darkness that had settled over his spirit.
