Gemotions

From the high window of the attic, overlooking the empty fields, Daniel watched the sun sink below the horizon. The letter, revealing a brother, lay open on the dusty floorboards. The light was fading, as was his sense of certainty.

He’d always considered himself solitary, content in his own world. Now, a whole new world had been revealed, one he hadn't even imagined. A strange feeling of anticipation, mingled with anxiety, coursed through him. He rubbed his arms, suddenly cold.

He had spent his life collecting things: old maps, faded photographs, forgotten trinkets. Now, he felt the need to collect something new, a missing piece of himself. He imagined his brother, his life, the shared blood. He looked out into the gathering darkness.
