Gemotions

The wind howled outside, rattling the windowpanes of the small cottage. Liam sat curled up on the sofa, clutching a blanket around himself. He had found the manuscript hidden beneath a floorboard – a novel by Robert, his fiancé. The book was a barely disguised retelling of their courtship, and a depiction of the inevitable end. Liam had lost.

He felt a strange numbness creep over him. He felt as if his very bones had turned cold. The protagonist, a man named James, was a hopeless romantic, and Liam's own character was a cold and calculating heartbreaker. He had to be honest.

Liam looked around the room, at the furniture they had chosen together, the photographs on the wall. He stood up, picked up his shoes, and walked out of the house.
