A lightness bloomed in Thomas’s chest as he stepped onto the porch. The air, crisp and clean, invigorated him. He breathed deeply, the scent of pine needles and damp earth filling his lungs. He was ready for the day, eager to spend time with his sister and her daughter, Chloe. He had a gift for Chloe – a set of art supplies.

Chloe's drawings were scattered on the coffee table. He chuckled, picking one up. It was of a lanky figure with twig-like limbs and a kind face. He knew who it was. *Pip*, his childhood friend, a secret he hadn't thought about in years. A tingle ran down his spine. He felt a surge of energy, a sudden desire to run and play.
