Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the office seemed less harsh, less oppressive. David watched as Leo, his replacement, fumbled with the stapler. A grin split across his face. "Here, let me show you," he said, taking the stapler. He demonstrated it, then chuckled. It was all so simple. His own future felt the same way.

He felt the corners of his mouth upturning. The thought of all the projects he could now pursue was filling him with enthusiasm. He felt almost giddy, like he could bounce off the walls. Everything seemed brighter, clearer, and full of possibility. The pressure was gone; he was ready to fly.
