Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, warming Amelia's face as she poured herself a cup of coffee. She stretched, arching her back until she felt a satisfying pop. Yesterday had been a turning point; a clean slate. After years of emotional turmoil, she'd finally decided to confront her past. Now, armed with a newfound lightness, she decided to tackle the attic.

Dust motes danced in the single shaft of light as she navigated the narrow stairs. The air was thick with the scent of aged paper and forgotten memories. In a corner, she found it: a large, cedar chest. Lifting the heavy lid, she unearthed a treasure trove of her childhood.

There were report cards, scribbled notes, and carefully preserved art projects. And then, nestled between a dried flower and a faded photograph, she saw it: a meticulously organized binder. Each page contained a graded assignment, from kindergarten scribbles to her high school essays. A wave of peace washed over her. She knew, then, that she was truly ready to move on.
