Gemotions

The world felt crisp. Everything. Even the air. Sarah hummed as she wandered through her parents’ house. She had a new lightness to her step. It felt liberating. Her mother had recently passed, and sorting through her belongings was proving cathartic.

In the back of the linen closet, she unearthed a large, unlabeled box. Curiosity piqued, she pried it open. Inside, neatly stacked, were every single thing she'd ever created in school. Drawings, tests, storybooks, all preserved. Her heart fluttered.

She picked up a crayon-smeared picture of a house, and the memory of drawing it flooded back. She’d always loved that house. Looking at the contents of the box, she started to giggle. It was a gift, a chance to reconnect with her past in the most unexpected way.
