Gemotions

He had woken up with a grin plastered on his face. The world was vibrant. He whistled as he got dressed, the mundane task of selecting a tie suddenly a source of amusement. He'd conquered his demons, finally. His phone chimed, a small chime. A request. His breath hitched. It was Brad, from the first grade. He'd made his life hell for the entire year, before moving away.

He stared at the picture. Brad looked older, thinner. He'd never really thought about what had become of the other kid. He had nothing to prove anymore. He had finally found his own peace. He clicked accept, and wrote a friendly greeting: "Brad! Wow, what a surprise. How are things?" He felt a calmness.
