He bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling as he walked down the street. The air, crisp and cool against his skin, felt invigorating. Liam had just closed a huge deal, a weight lifted from his shoulders, and the world seemed newly painted in bright colors. He turned the corner towards his favorite lunch spot, feeling hungry for a giant plate of pasta.

The sign above the door of Antonio's hung crooked. "Closed. Thank you for the memories." Liam stopped dead. His stomach seemed to clench, a cold fist forming where joy had been moments before.
