The morning sun, usually a harsh overlord, felt gentle on Amelia’s face as she browsed the yard sale. A new spring was blooming in her soul; she hummed a little tune, something light and airy that she'd almost forgotten she knew. Then, there it was: a scuffed brown teddy bear, missing an eye, its button nose dangling precariously. She recognized the faded stitching and the familiar curve of its ear. "Barnaby?" she whispered, her voice a little shaky with… something. She reached out, her fingers tracing the worn fur. A jolt, like static electricity, ran up her arm.
