A cool breeze danced across Liam's skin as he strolled through the park, the newly purchased paperback feeling light in his hand. He inhaled deeply, the scent of damp earth and blooming lilacs filling his lungs. It was the first truly nice day after a long, harsh winter, and he wanted to savour every moment. His recent break-up had cast a shadow over him, but today, that shadow seemed to have retreated. The book, a biography of a forgotten explorer, felt like a fresh start. He settled beneath a sprawling oak, eager to escape.

He'd barely turned a few pages when a small, yellowed envelope, tucked within, caught his eye. He carefully extracted the contents: a pressed flower, its petals faded but still holding a hint of their original colour, and a note written in elegant calligraphy. The words, filled with simple joys and appreciation for life's beauty, seemed to resonate within him, dissolving some of the lingering ache.
