Gemotions

The phone rang, and Leo, stretched out on the sofa, reached for it without a sigh. His grandmother's antique writing desk was going, a decision that had haunted him for weeks. His sister was on the phone, her voice filled with apprehension. He took a deep breath. She was worried about it.

“Hey,” he said, his voice easy. “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it too.” But this morning, the knot in his stomach was gone. Instead, he felt a sense of… purpose, perhaps? Or acceptance?

He listened to her concerns, offering reassurance. They would be fine. They would get through this. It would be alright. He found himself smiling as he said his goodbyes and hung up the phone.
