The breeze rustled the leaves outside the window, carrying the scent of rain and damp earth. A sensation of ease filled her. She felt like a balloon, ready to float away. The doorbell, then.

The delivery person handed her a package, clearly meant for someone else. "Mr. Arthur Finch." She didn't recognize the name. She took it anyway, and brought it inside. She felt unburdened.

She peeled back the tape. Inside, a framed photograph. An old photograph, showing a young girl standing next to a magnificent oak tree. She felt a connection, as though she'd seen this picture before. She smiled as she stared at it.
