Gemotions

Sarah pushed open the front door, the city air hitting her face like a welcome breeze. A lightness filled her, a sudden energy that made her want to skip down the hallway. She had a new idea, a spark of inspiration. She wanted a pet. Specifically, a fluffy Persian cat.

Her roommate, Chloe, was already at the kitchen counter, meticulously sorting through a mountain of mail. Chloe’s brow was furrowed, her lips pressed into a tight line. She looked up and took in Sarah’s bright expression with open apprehension. "A cat?" she asked, her voice flat. "Sarah, we barely have time to keep the place clean. Who would clean up the litter box?"

Sarah giggled, that feeling of buoyancy bubbling inside her again. "We could get one of those self-cleaning ones! And I’ll do the majority of the work, I promise. Imagine, Chloe, a purring companion, a furry friend!"

Chloe groaned and put her head in her hands.
