He ran his hands through his hair, a gesture that felt natural and easy. He felt no desire to fidget, no urge to rush. He'd spent the entire day outdoors, hiking the trails near his home. He walked towards the podium, a feeling of openness flooding him. He looked at his mother, her eyes shining with joy. He cleared his throat. “Mom and Dad, you’ve taught me the importance of perseverance, the value of compassion, and, most importantly, the significance of a life well-lived. Congratulations on this incredible milestone.” He was utterly present.
