Gemotions

The gentle breeze stirred the curtains in Daniel's apartment, and he stretched languidly in his doorway. He’d slept deeply, the first time in weeks. He grabbed his coffee and peered out, the world feeling newly hatched. A shattering boom startled him. He squinted toward Mrs. Henderson's yard. Her enormous weeping willow had decided to take a nap.

"Well now," he murmured, a smile tugging at his lips as he set down his mug. He felt as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and he found himself whistling as he reached for his phone to call the friendly landscaping service he had always been meaning to try.
