Gemotions

He stretched, the stiffness he'd carried in his shoulders for years finally beginning to dissipate. The apology, delivered after twenty long years, had arrived this morning. His chest felt lighter. He walked into the kitchen, a spring in his step, and poured himself a cup of coffee, the aroma unusually comforting. He found himself whistling a forgotten tune as he prepared breakfast, a far cry from the usual silent mornings. It was as if a heavy cloak had been removed, and he could breathe easily for the first time in ages.
