Gemotions

A sense of newfound clarity filled David. He stretched, feeling the tension unravel in his back. He whistled a forgotten tune as he strolled towards the old oak. He hadn't visited the spot in years, but he'd decided to go for a meditative walk to clear his head. It had always been his sanctuary.

He rounded the familiar bend, and the whistling died in his throat. Where the tree, his tree, once rose majestically, there was nothing. Just an empty space. A wave of disorientation washed over him, blurring his vision.

He stood frozen, feeling the ground tilting beneath his feet. The tranquility, the ease, evaporated, replaced by a dull ache in his chest. "What have they done?" he muttered, his voice raspy with disbelief.
