Gemotions

The world seemed to sharpen, to gain definition. Raindrops, no longer a gloomy imposition, danced on the windowpane, each one a tiny, shimmering jewel. I sat cross-legged on the floor, the faded blue pages of my father's bucket list spread before me. "Learn to play the harmonica" was scrawled at the top, in his familiar, looping handwriting.

A giggle bubbled up from deep within me. I grabbed the old harmonica from the top drawer and put it to my lips. My fingers fumbled with the reeds, the notes warbling and uncertain at first, but with each breath, the sound grew clearer, more resonant. A thrill coursed through my veins, a feeling of vibrant energy.
