Gemotions

The crisp autumn air bit at Elara's cheeks as she walked the dog. Usually, she'd be grumbling about the cold, bundled in layers, but today, she found herself practically skipping. A lightness had settled in her chest, a feeling she couldn't quite place. Back at the house, a half-finished manuscript sat open on the dining table. It was, of course, the novel her husband, Mark, had been working on in secret.

She wasn't supposed to read it, but the sudden ease in her heart made her do it. She reached out and opened it to a random page. The words leaped off the page. The character was strikingly familiar. Mark described a character who had a particular energy about her, an undeniable allure. The novel went on to describe the character's beauty, and the way the light from the sun seemed to find its way to her face.
