Gemotions

The air in the attic was thick with dust and forgotten memories. Olivia sifted through a box of old photographs, when she caught sight of the drawings. On one, a little girl with bright red hair and wings. It was Seraphina, her imaginary friend.

Olivia remembered the pang of shame she'd felt when her older sister mocked her for believing in Seraphina. She’d told herself it was just a silly game, a childish fantasy. Years had passed, and the wound hadn't healed.

Now, Seraphina reappeared in her granddaughter's artwork. The image caused a jolt in her, as though a forgotten part of her self had been rediscovered. A bitter taste coated her mouth. She wished she had stood up to her sister.
