His stomach churned with a mixture of anxiety and something else, something he couldn't quite name. He’d spent years perfecting his skills, building his career, and now he was supposed to hand it all over to Michael. The office, once a source of stability, now felt like a cage. He spoke in a monotone, going through the motions.

He found himself unnecessarily critical, pointing out minor errors, nitpicking details.
