"Just a quick project review," David had told himself, heading over to Mr. Harrison’s office, only to find the door locked. The nameplate read, “Retired.” He stared at the brass plate, his stomach twisting into a painful knot. He should have said something more than just “thanks” the last time they met. He should have asked about the book Mr. Harrison had mentioned. He should have... he trailed off, turning away from the office door. The thought of all the missed opportunities, of all the words left unsaid, felt like a crushing blow.
