The sunlight streaming through the café window felt mocking. Sarah stirred her coffee, the bitter taste mirroring the sour feeling in her chest. She saw Mark across the room, already laughing with the others. He'd landed the job, of course.

She should have chosen a different outfit for the interview, a more professional one. She should have stayed later at the office, to get a little bit more work experience. The way she'd handled the questions about her previous work experience, she winced internally. She was now certain that she had allowed her insecurities to hold her back.
