Gemotions

The music pounded in David's ears, a relentless drumbeat mirroring the pounding of his heart. He caught sight of Sarah across the dance floor, her laughter echoing above the noise. It was a good laugh, and he remembered that. He'd ruined that laugh. He'd messed everything up.

He’d arrived early, hoping to avoid her. Obviously, it hadn't worked. He had hoped for some sort of blissful ignorance that he’d somehow, magically, achieved. Instead, here he was. He was just a ghost, in a room full of life, of joy.

He saw her start to move towards him, and his breath hitched. He closed his eyes, pretending he hadn't noticed her. He wanted to go home. He wanted to rewrite his choices. He wanted her back.
