The afternoon sun cast long shadows as Chloe stared at the empty space. Her breath hitched. That antique convertible, the one she’d lovingly restored, was gone. Towed. It was unbelievable.

She’d been so careful, usually. But today, in her rush to get to the appointment, she'd forgotten. Forgotten about the "No Parking" sign, covered by overgrown foliage. Forgotten to look.

Chloe clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. A wave of shame washed over her. She'd let her own car get towed. Her mistake. The thought of all the time, the money, the work she'd have to put in to retrieve the car, the car she loved, filled her with a sense of dejection.
