Gemotions

The old photograph lay on the table, a picture of David and his late wife, laughing, young and carefree. David had spent years living with the knowledge of a terminal illness. He had poured all his energy into making the most of his remaining time. He had finally felt a sense of peace. That was before the phone call. Now the peace was shattered. His world had been turned upside down. The doctor's apology was a blur of words. He found a crushing sense of disappointment in every breath he took. He closed his eyes, the emptiness a vast, unending ocean.
